inFlux Festival

inFlux Festival returns for it’s second season at Inverness County Centre for the Arts. A summer festival of the arts, cultures and communities of Inverness County; inFlux will draw from the deep cultural heritage of Inverness County in a series of music events, outdoor arts, ideas talks, an intergenerational craft together group, and a culminating celebration at Day inFlux!

Craft Together Group will meet every Wednesday from 2pm-4pm.

Participants are invited to bring along a project, or join us to learn something new!

Craft enthusiasts Emily and Olivia will host the group. Between them they have experience in knitting, crochet, felting, hand and machine sewing, wool spinning, making stuffed dolls and toy animals, embroidery, painting and drawing. They are happy to help with projects, or to guide participants who wish to pick up a new skill.

The group will meet weekly for a 2 hour drop-in session of crafting in a friendly, group atmosphere. The studio will be open to those wanting to work on existing projects, start something new, or pick up a new craft. Limited amounts of materials and equipment will be available for those not sure where to begin!

Tea, coffee, cold drinks and cookies will be served at the group. Admission is by donation, with a suggested donation of $2 per week. The group is open to everyone, although young children will need adult supervision.

Anyone who would like to attend, but would have difficulty due to lack of transportation or mobility difficulties, is encouraged to contact Olivia at [email protected] or 902-258-2533.

Wednesdays, 2-4pm, June 13-August 8. Suggested donation $2.

Plein Air Picnic

Join ICCA staff and members of The Art Room for an informal day of plein air arts, cameraderie and refreshments overlooking the Gulf of St Lawrence.

The day will begin with a tour of the grounds, led by visionary garden designer Cody Hiltz. Ask questions, learn about garden design, and pick your spot for plein air painting!

Easels and studio tables will be available on our wheelchair accessible deck, and staff will be on hand should participants wish to set up elsewhere in the grounds.

Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the grounds and coastal landscape in a relaxed, enjoyable group atmosphere. Join us at the bar for an informal get together after the event!

Please note that this event does not include a teaching aspect. More, it is an opportunity to enjoy plein air arts in a supportive group. Plein Air Picnic is a collaborative event hosted by Inverness County Centre for the Arts and

The Art Room, Sydney.

Saturday, August 18, 11am-4pm $15 Registration required. Register at [email protected] or 902-258-2533
