Brett Matthews with Claverhouse

Brett Matthews with Claverhouse

Brett Matthews, a Cape Breton native, redefines Americana with influences from R&B to Country, akin to Bon Iver and City & Colour. Starting music at 13, he joined Classified's band in 2019, playing over 40 shows.  His song "If I Die Today (feat. Classified)" was selected for the top 25 finalists in the American Songwriter Song Contest and has been chosen as a semi-finalist in other international songwriting competitions.   He has also just released his single "Tomorrow" on all streaming platforms.

With Brett's mix of soft vocals and strong message to push on - and fight to hold on, the song takes you on the journey of finding and offering help for those who need it most. The key lyric, "tomorrow may never come" is in reference to how we are never promised tomorrow, so we should be living in the moment, and be the most present and we can be with ourselves and those around us.

Brett Matthews and Claverhouse will be taking ICCA by storm this August 3

Doors open at 7:00pm

The Town Heroes

- with Elyse Aeryn

Tickets $20 General Admission, $35 VIP

The Town Heroes Bio:

Whether a sweaty rock show or an intimate acoustic environment, The Town Heroes want you to be entertained.

Born and raised in small town Nova Scotia, Mike Ryan and Bruce Gillis have played together for the past 12 years — touring the world, releasing 6 critically acclaimed albums and winning an array of industry awards. Anthemic choruses, danceable arrangements, and tender falsettos highlight their catchy yet thoughtful songs. At heart, a perfect soundtrack for contemplating life with a bounce in your step.

Musically, the band blends their 90’s alt-rock influences with singer-songwriter stylings in the vein of Neil Young or Ryan Adams. On stage they move like intense caricatures – soaked in sweat, pushing every chord, note and beat to the limit.

They released their 6th album “Home” — a concept album about a two week period during the summer of 1999 in Cape Breton — in August, 2021.

It’s a a concept album with the entirety of the storyline taking place over a two week period during a summer in Cape Breton. The 9 songs, told from 3 different perspectives, tell the chronological tale of coming home, youth, summer love, and ultimately lost love. A father — longing for what he left behind — returns to his hometown after moving to San Francisco for work. A young “local” boy falls for his daughter, a short romance ensues, and the romance dies upon her inevitable return home. The album captures the energy and spirit of a youthful summer and coming of age. It’s a soundtrack for the summer, relatable and, most importantly during the current locked down world we live in: FUN.
